George Condo x Supreme Skateboard Decks

American contemporary artist George Condo is the latest creative to link-up with Supreme on their popular art meets skateboard deck program. Originally born in Concord, New Hampshire, the New York-based artist creates three separate designs for the spring/summer season. Having shared the scene with such influential New York artists such as Haring, Basquiat and Schnabel, the artist’s “Artificial Realism” has become his trademark aesthetic. Condo’s inspirations include popular iconography as well as sources including “Playboy, European history, Greek mythology and American caricature for his dark, painterly and humorous work.” The collection of decks will release on May 6th in the US/online and May 8th in Japan

JR “Women Are Heroes” Exhibition

Here is an exciting venture to come from Freiburg, with Gallery Springmann.Varol opening with the profound French artist JR. JR’s “Women Are Heroes” Exhibition opens on April 24 and is the beginning of an impressive new space. Gallerist Henrik Springmann and entrepreneur/art collector Selim Varol have teamed up to open the gallery and create something with great distinction.
JR’s project pays tribute to the scores of women who are dealing with the effects of war, poverty, violence, and oppression on a daily basis. He meets them in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Phnom Penh, Delhi, and Kibera/Kenya and with his camera, he captures their faces in moments of emotion. JR’s works document the personal histories of the people he photographs and his works in interior spaces – photographs and collages on various media – are already well-established and respected throughout the international contemporary art world.

Let's Colour...

The paint project using bright colors to transform neighborhoods
The pet project of paint company Dulux, Let's Colour is an international outreach project in which volunteers travel to drab and dreary corners of the world and enliven them with a fresh coat of paint. "Color your world" is the tagline for the program that hopes to transform communities by the brushstroke.

This year the Let's Colour crew has travelled to London, Rio de Janeiro, Paris and Jodhpur to find and help neighborhoods paint themselves anew. They hope to expand to other countries, including Turkey, throughout the year.

Moscot Mangito

Adding a Brigitte Bardot touch to their Moscot Originals collection, the new Mangito frames seize on the cat-eye craze for spring. Moscot's take interprets the style more subtly than other current versions, like Alexander Wang's recent kitschy-slash-punk collaboration with Linda Farrow.
Fit for ladies, the brand named the frames for Sol's sister Gladys who ditched NYC's Lower East Side for sunny Cuba Libre-filled days in Havana. Mangito—Cuban slang for sexy, hot and fresh—was the nickname Gladys' future husband gave her when they met there and defines the demurely flirty essence of the new eye wear.
The Mangito specs come either as sunglasses or standard ophthalmic frames. Pick them up online for $250 in black or tortoiseshell.

Bike Dispensing Machines

There's something immensely pleasing about sailing past scores of traffic with little more than a push of a pedal. And at the same time, you're burning the calories, and doing your bit to stay green. But there's one thing we hate about this simple mode of transport. People like nothing more than stealing them, damaging them, or driving buses into them. While your safe at work crunching the numbers, who's looking after your ride home?
Cue the bike dispensing machine. Brought to you courtesy of bikedispenser.com, a small firm from Amsterdam, the idea is to help facilitate bike rentals in urban areas. Cyclists pay a small fee to hire a bike, and then they can take it where they please. Once they've finished, they can return it either to that machine, or another one across town. And because they've been fitted with RFID tags, they won't all have been nicked before you can get one.
